Circumnavigation of the Maltese Archipelago (which includes Malta, Gozo and Comino, plus the tiny uninhabited islets of Cominotto in the north and Filfla, about 5km off the southern coast) can be completed in as little as two days in ideal weather conditions and with people in peak physical condition. The coastline of Malta the largest island is just under 200km and Gozo approximately 56km.

We generally recommend four days for groups of intermediate level sea paddlers 3 Star and above with an additional day or two for visiting historic (land-based) sights of interest.

We can also be trailer-based which makes getting around the archipelago easy and allows us the option of providing a mobile platform for more inexperienced groups who may prefer shorter trips yet still want to explore these beautiful islands.

 

Itinerary

Rugged Coast Adventures Multi-Day
Sea Kayaking Holiday Itinerary - 8 day 7 nights

 

Sunday Day 1
Arrive in Malta Transfer to Hotel with Evening social BBQ and introductions.

 

Monday Day 2 (Full Day Kayaking) 8 Nautical Miles
AM leave Mellieha Bay to Mistra Bay. Picnic lunch in Mistra Bay.
PM Leave Mistra Bay to the St. Paul Islands ( Where St. Paul was Shipwrecked 20 AD) and to Selmun Bay (Short hike and snacks) Return to Mellieha.

 

Tuesday Day 3 (½ Day sightseeing, ½ Day Kayaking) 5 NM
AM Ferry to Gozo, Visit Walled City or Rabat.
PM Visit Pastizeria for local style lunch.

Kayaking trip 1 - Marsalforn Bay to Ramla Bay to San Blas Bay(15 minute rest) return to Marsalforn Bay. 5.5 NM

Kayaking Trip 2 - Dwejra Bay (Inland Sea) to Xlendi Visiting the historical Fungus Rock and the Azure window. 5 NM

Wednesday Day 4 ( Full Day Kayaking ) 8 NM
Chirkewwa, Paradise Bay, Golden Bay to Gnejna Bay

 

Thursday Day 5 (½ Day sightseeing, ½ Day Kayaking) 6 NM
AM Visit Mdina “ the Silent City”
PM Lunch in Mdina
Kayaking Trip to the Blue Grotto and various Cliffs, Sea Caves and Arches in the area.

 

Friday Day 6 (Various Activities, Eve. kayak trip to Grand Harbour)
AM visit Ta Qali Craft village.
PM Lunch in Valletta(World Heritage Site)
Visit various museums and shops
Dinner in Valetta followed by evening Kayak tour of the Grand Harbour 3 NM

 

Saturday Day 7 (Full Day Kayaking) 8NM
AM Leave Mellieha Bay to Armier Bay. Short break in Armier Bay. Cross to Comino.
PM Lunch in Mheriel Bay. Visit Blue Lagoon and Sea Caves. Return to Cirkewwa.
Evening farewell dinner at Point Break Restaurant.

 

Sunday Day 8
Transfer to Airport and home.

Price includes:
 - Half board accommodation( Breakfast and lunch).
 - Kayaks and All Kayaking Equipment.
 - Transport for excursions.

Price does not include:
 - Airfare
 - Transfers to and from Airport.(can be arranged, please ask for details)
 - Evening meals and drinks.
