Deep Water Soloing

"It's all about finding a line that motivates me."

Chris Sharma

Deep-water soloing (DWS), also known as "Psicobloc", is a form of solo rock climbing that relies solely upon the presence of water at the base of a climb to protect against injury. DWS is viewed by many climbers as the ultimate challenge. No gear, no ropes, pure freedom and a whole lot of thrill.

The Maltese coastline is perfect for deep water soloing with high and low level cliffs with deep water below and stunning scenery behind, conditions couldn't be better.

The best way to access the cliff is by sea kayak. You will be able to explore the coastline finding the best possible rock with safest splash downs.

At Rugged Coast Adventures we offer a great day trip on our sit on top kayaks which are an ideal platform for exiting the water and climbing onto the cliffs. We take you to the best locations on the island however many sea cliffs are still uncharted so plenty of lines are waiting to be attempted.
